International Recipe Formats

Understanding and scaling recipes from around the world

Format Differences

Recipes vary by region: US uses cups/tablespoons, UK uses grams/ml, European recipes often list ingredient then quantity ("Flour 250g"). The scaler recognizes all these formats automatically.

Metric vs Imperial

Metric (g, ml, kg, L) is used by most of the world. Imperial (cups, oz, lb) is common in the US. The scaler works with both—just paste your recipe as-is and it will scale correctly.

Regional Conventions

Decimal separators: US/UK use periods (1.5), many European countries use commas (1,5). The scaler handles both. Some Spanish recipes use apostrophes (2'5). These all work automatically.

Supported Formats

The Recipe Scaler supports 7 languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Greek, Dutch, Italian) with their local units, measurement words, and formatting conventions. Just paste any recipe and scale!
